We welcome you to Awaken Student Ministries (ASM) at Christian Life International Church. Christian Life International Church is an innovative, spirit-filled and inter-cultural church that believes in magnifying and exalting His Holy Name through corporate praise and worship.

We, at ASM strive to maintain this goal through our ministry and service. We reach out to our un-churched teens in the Roanoke/Salem Valley, as well as teens from right in our own church family. Communication is vital to maintain high standards and efficiency. Read¬ing this is a great tool to keeping informed.

About Awaken Student Ministries
There are 9 key ministry and volunteer areas that make up Awaken Student Ministries:
• Awaken Creative Ministries (including Frontline Singers, Praise Band, Drama Team (The Artisans), Dance, and Audio-lighting tech)
• Sigma Lambda Girls’ Sorority
• The Brotherhood Fellowship for Guys
• Proclaim! – first time visitor follow up
• Roanoke Bound 4 Life
• Ushers
• Adult Discipleship Mentors
• The Awaken Info Table
• Point Guard

There are pending plans for additional ministries and volunteer areas such as: 1) website design, 2) Student small groups, and 3) Media promotions. ASM’s high energy and informative weekly services, as well as special events scheduled throughout the year, have brought it to the forefront in the Salem community as one of the city’s premier youth ministries.

ASM’s Vision and Goals
The vision for Awaken Student Ministries is to “Awaken a generation to NEW life in Jesus Christ.” The desire of this ministry is to equip and empower today’s young believers through the power of God’s spirit. We strive to minister and reach out to the non-churched youth with the liberating power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to help them develop a love for God’s Word. ASM offers relevant teaching for today, and a place to connect with God through youth led praise and worship, to step out in love in our community, and to allow the Holy Spirit to awaken and change our hearts.

Four key essentials guide everything we do in Awaken Student Ministries.
ASM exists to be:
• Spiritually strong
• Relational in focus
• Culturally relevant
• Devotional in outreach

Spiritually speaking, ASM is not about religion. It’s about:
• Creating intimate fellowship with God through worship.
• Encouraging growth through solid teaching.
• Growing in God through prayer and Bible reading.
• Renewing our minds to become more like Jesus!

ASM is an extended family of brothers and sisters in Christ who exist to:
• Strengthen your relationship with God.
• Create stronger family bonds.
• Handle modern dating pitfalls.
• Provide times of fun & fellowship.
• Encourage excellence in school, work and life.

ASM engages modern culture by:
• Providing outlets for students to use natural talents and strengths for the Lord.
• Encouraging God-focused alternatives to secular media by going to concerts, or giving exposure to uplifting movies, music and other forms of relevant entertainment.

ASM will help students discover purpose and destiny by:
• Training them to minister in music, drama, and dance.
• Teaching authentic “relational” evangelism.
• Providing local and national outreach opportunities
• Highlighting world missions.
• Helping students discover God’s destiny for their lives.
